The workshop is an example showcase of bigger fake news and situations that actually happened in media, and ways they could have been avoided. I will be showing some ideas on how to verify the source, images, videos, texts and location using various free online tools. In particular, the seminar will be focusing on:
- reverse image search
- Google Maps and Google Earth
- Google Translate
- other free and handy online tools for fact-checking and verification such as The Wayback Machine, WHO IS, Link Explorer, Suncalc, Video News Debunker, Mapchecking, and others.
The seminar is an eye-opener to those worried about the future of journalism as well as those who still think fake news is just another buzz word.
